Long gone are those days when American designed boardgames were nothing more than “Ameritrash;” cheaply produced games with clunky mechanics. Nowadays everyone with an interest in boardgames would agree that some of the best and most innovative games are being designed in the U.S., often funded through Kickstarter.
Some of these great games don’t get a lot of coverage in Europe. But that may change now, as I recently became the “North America guy” for Reich der Spiele. Online since 2001, Reich der Spiele is one of Germany’s largest and most well established gaming websites. Going forward I’ll be regularly contributing reviews of “Ameritrash” games to that site. Check out my profile page for an up-to-date list of my reviews.
I’ll keep on writing my bi-monthly boardgaming column in St. Galler Tagblatt, a Swiss daily newspaper. In these articles I try to bring together European and American games. Each column focuses on three games representing a single theme such as “Las Vegas and gambling” or “games set on tropical islands.”
Please contact me through Twitter or this site if you want me to review your game.
