This Wednesday my first feature for SPIEGEL ONLINE was published.
In that article, I am reviewing Lorien Green’s really interesting film “Going Cardboard, A Board Game Documentary.” The documentary is about the growing popularity of strategic board games in the US. These games are often referred to as Euro games or German-style games, and Green tracks how they have become more and more popular in the US over the course of the last 15 years. If you have a chance and like board games, I recommend getting a copy of this documentary.
SPIEGEL ONLINE is arguably Germany’s most important news website with 10.7 million unique users and 170 million monthly visits (as of March 2012).
You can find an English translation of my article on the BoardGameGeek.com which was uploaded by a member of that online community.
On a different, yet board game related note: You can read my feature about Toronto’s board game café Snakes & Lattes in the current German language issue of spielbox magazine (2/2012).
UPDATE, August 22, 2012: Liking the whole board game angle and now have published my first game reviews in St. Galler Tagblatt. This one is about “King of Tokyo,” “Zombie Dice” and “Junta – Viva el Presidente.”
